Brad Story, Randy Swenson, Shain Stanger, Dave Schell and I just got back from the most amazing snow trip I've ever taken! We spent all of last week in BC, sledding mostly in the Revelstoke area. On Monday, we rode near Nelson, BC with Cam and Tyler Hicks and had a ball building a huge jump for Cam and some snowboarders! Cam flew about 120 feet! Then we hit Boulder near Revy for a few days. Had an absolute blast pulling out Brad's Propane turbo and portable grill and cooking a bunch of sledders lunch up at the cabin! Lots of funny looks and stares! On Friday when we rode turtle this local came up and saw my Apex turbo and started bragging about how he heard about this amazing propane powered Apex that cooks everyone lunch and has 400 hp and does this and that and what not! Dave and I looked at each other laughing and said, "That's Brad Story and he's sitting right there!" The guy couldn't believe it and went over to the sled for some roasted marshmallows and pictures!

Anyway, we had amazing snow and although the weather never cleared out, we rode hard. It's nice when the weather isn't sunny because I actually get to ride and have fun and boy did I! 5 days of FRESH SNOW, NO TRACKS and good fun! We met tons of cool people, met some new friends, rode with some of the world's best (Cody Borchers, Rob Alford, Mike Irmen, Jason Earl, of course Brad and Randy and many more!)

Thanks to all those who stopped by, said hi, rode with us, guided us, had fun with us and thanks to all the flatlanders who showed up and turned the town upside down with us! (Bwock, Hobbes, Interceptor, DaveB, Canuckle, etc. etc!!)

Looks like all the snow dances I've done finally worked so be carefull as you venture into all this fresh snow!

I just got an e-mail that made me smile and laugh so I thought I would share it!!

Its done (he just voted for TS5!!) thanks for the good times and for taking the time to get my kid a poster and autograph it . My only bi*ch is that after the movie I had to buy a Apex, then a turbo, then an m10, then a cr tunnel and 30 g later I have a sled that makes my face hurt from the all day smile and scares the hell out of me. Thanks again Blake Walker Kent WA

Wow, the snow is deep but goodness has it been cold and windy!! We just arrived home from a trip to Castlegar and Revelstoke and the snow was phenomenal. Yep, the rumors are true. . . Revy has great snow! Dave Schell, Dan Davidoff, Mark Mesenbrink and I played hard for 3 days in the sun and very cold temps. We got some amazing footage and phtotography and I am currently editing pictures to put up on the web of our antics! In Montana here we are just waiting for some fresh snow. . . Pretty much like most places in the U.S. Rockies. I talked to Doug Anderson in Utah today and he said the same thing. . . NO NEW SNOW!!!

I thought I'd put up a couple more e-mails I have received over the last couple days. Team Thunderstruck really appreciates the fan letters and we try to respond to them all. This website is our lifeline to our friends and fans but if you need more info than we have here, send us an e-mail!

Hi, my name is Brooke I am thirteen years old and I live in a small town in Montana called Chinook. my family has been snowmobiling before I was even born but I have been going since I was about ten years old.I Love watching you're movies and I've seen them all so many times I know what's going to happen and I know all the songs.I enjoy watching everyone but my favorites or Wes Little and of coarse Dan Davidoff ( Krazy Canadian). I also have pictures off of the big skyx website on my wall.I want to be one of the best and I was wondering what advise you could give??? I hope to meet you and the team someday because you are all inspirational . wishing for snow and great riding!! Brooke

First off let me say I love the films. Excellent cinematography, and a definate rush everytime I watch them. Keep up the good work, and striving for greatness. Hey, one question that I am sure you guys are asked often... I am a single guy that loves riding, snowmobiles in the winter and quads and bikes in the summer. I would like to find a lovely lady similar to those on your films, that are into the same activities. Would any of the ladies be interested in some good conversation, and some stories? I am located in Utah, and would like to hear from any lady fans that would like to go for a ride sometime. Specially any of the ladies on the video if they are interested. I can send my website, and pics. Keep up the good work, as always a stock sled is a stuck sled, and we don't get stuck. Marcus

.: Dec 26, 2006 :.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all friends and fans and riders! What a great month December was for TS5 sales and thanks to all who helped make that happen! Thunderstruck 5 has blown up in terms of total sales and it has now surpassed sales of both TS3.5 and TS4 combined!!! Thank you all, thank you all!!

CHRISTMAS SHIPPING NOTES: Our cutoff dates for shipping were pretty much right on except for one package in Montana and many packages to Wyoming. No other calls or e-mails from any other states or Canada. We had 18 packages to Wyoming shipped Dec 18 and with DENVER'S airport and the storms, most of those packages were delayed and you may not even have them yet. If you live in Wyoming or Colorado know that your DVDs were shipped on the 18th of Dec and you should be getting them anytime. . . And don't feel too bad. I flew home last Thursday, the 21st and I still haven't even heard from Continental Airlines where my luggage is. . . And it's been 5 days!!!! Just that time of year, I guess. . .

.: Dec 1, 2006 :.

As the Holidays approach and the snow starts to fill the mountains, Team Thunderstruck wants to wish you all an amazing Holiday Season and a safe and snow-filled New Year! Today is the day of my first ride although I know Randy up in British Columbia and Brad down in Utah have been riding like crazy already! There isn't much snow around our favorite haunts, but Copper Creek in Lincoln has around 50 inches on its Snotel right now. Should be a great ride today! Watch this site and SnoWest.com for current pictures of all of our rides!

IMPORTANT DATES FOR ORDERING DVDs:

Last day to order for Christmas Delivery in the United States: DECEMBER 15

Last day to order for Christmas Delivery in Canada: DECEMBER 11 although this is not a guarantee!

3 Things:

1) In case you haven't watched Thunderstruck 5 yet (How dare you?!), you missed out on an amazing section by rider GEORGE MARSH on his desert (yeah, as in sand and dirt) prepped REV. Well, George has a new sled on the sand and dirt and it is VERY COOL! It is a new Yamaha PHAZER and as you can see in the pictures, it is bada$$! .: Oct 25, 2006 :.

Seems as though one of the most popular shots in Thunderstruck 5 is Dan "The Krazy Canadian" Davidoff's monster pull out in Valhalla. It is the climb in the movie towards the end of his segment when he is up through rocks and trees and pops up over the cornice to his left just barely pulling it off! It surely is an amazing climb and it was recently voted the NUMBER 1 CLIMB in a snowmobile movie!! We knew it was a badass climb and now we know you all think so too! We are also getting funny and positive comments about Dan's mid-air dismount and the subsequent laughter and comentary by Dan and yours truly (my name is Jim in case you're wondering!). I even still laugh when I see it! Also getting great comments about Randy Swenson's section, Brad Story's section and Wes Little's segment. Thanks to all who love Thunderstruck 5 and if you haven't seen it yet, order it now! You'll laugh your butt off and the "WOW!" factor is huge!

Below are a few comments about Dan's riding in TS5:

"Just watched TS5. Mr. Davidoff, you are indeed, the Crazy Canadian. The climb you did with the big bail at the top, listening to Jim laughing ( Barney Rubble) about it, then you coming up and saying you think you hurt a nut, I laugh every time I think about it! TS 5 is the best yet, and I have all of them. Good job Jim and the Thunderstruck crew!" (from Sxrlar, Snowest Forums)

"Dan, You are a maniac! That climb was the best and the bail was even better.
I'll have to watch TS5 again tonight and compare the laughter to Barney though. BTW, Did you ever find the missing nut?" (from HighMark700, Snowest Forums)

"I watched my pull 55 times plus this weekend and still get a rush everytime I watch it.... Thats why I wait for Jim to film the climbs... Cause when something like that happens.... It's recorded for me , my daughter and one day my grand children..,,forever!!! and one day thay can say holy $hit.. cool grandpa.... I don't think my 7 yr old daughter quite gets it yet , but her class mates all tell her , she has a really crazy dad!!" (from The Krazy Canadian himself, Snowest Forums)

"HOLY POO!!!!!" (from Sxrlar, Snowest Forums)

"I totally agree, probably the sickest climb I've ever seen (Davidoff)." (from Xrider, Snowest Forums)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Special thanks to KEN JAEGER in Lewistown, Montana and to Doc Nesbo, Trennis, Paul and Dan Pate for an awesome Thunderstruck 5 premiere at the YOGO INN last Saturday. Comments after the movie echo my thoughts on the film succinctly. . . Thunderstruck 5 is BY FAR the best movie in the TS series. THUNDERSTRUCK 5 NEWSFLASH!

The Cover artwork for Thunderstruck 5, our August 2006 release, is finished and looks amazing. Instead of doing a single picture format like we did for Thunderstruck 4, we took an amazing climbing shot of Randy Swenson and overlaid a huge number '5' which has 10 embedded pictures within it. It is very colorful and is something you can look at over and over and always see something new. The other riders pictured on the cover (embedded in the '5') are: Cody Bahny, Joe Bushilla, Dan Davidoff, Julie Marquart, Brad Story, Carl Christianson, Shane Hedden and Cam Hicks (two of these riders are pictured twice). Click the thumbnail to see a large shot of the cover! Go to Thunderstruck 5 page.

The TS5 teaser is finished but we are having trouble obtaining rights to the song we used. Unless we get permission soon, I will change the song and have the teaser up next Monday or Tuesday, I promise!!

I recently heard of another hillclimber who was recently injured in Canada. After hearing of all the horrific injuries from the Red Bull Fuel and Fury and other film-related accidents this year I just wanted to let all those riders know that Team Thunderstruck is thinking about you and wishing you all speedy recoveries.

.: May 1, 2006 :.

I have just returned from MANY days on the road as hillclimbing snow has finally come and the bad sleds built for climbing have started to tear up the mountains! I spent 10 days in ALASKA with Trennis Baer, Dan Bush, Wade Durbin, Shane Hedden, Cody Bahny and Carl Christianson and we had an absolute ball. One highlight was working with the Turnagain Hardcore guys Jimmy Blaze Fejes and Giles Landry teaching Cody and Carl how to do a backflip! A very cool trip indeed! Then I spent 2 crazy days with Doc Nesbo in sunshine and fresh snow and I just returned from a week in BC where we filmed Brad Story, Randy Swenson, Lyle Sinden, Shain Stanger, Wes Little, Dan Davidoff, Shawn Hastings and Dan Richter going nuts in between the rocks. It's been an amazing winter and it's just now starting to wind down. There should be good snow in many areas well into June and hopefully we'll be riding in a bunch of it.

OUR FORUMS ARE FIXED BUT WE HAVE TO START OVER. PLEASE RE-REGISTER ASAP and get our forums back to the way they were. I had to update the software for these new forums and I do not know how to install the old forums database into this new setup. So again, please sign up and talk and have some fun! If anyone knows how I might install the old database, let me know ASAP!!!

Also, the THUNDERSTRUCK 5 teaser will be coming in the next week or two so watch for that!

THUNDERSTRUCK 4.5 IS IN STOCK AND SHIPPING TODAY!

I'm HOME! After not even seeing a computer for 12 days I've finally come home to roost a while. The Canadian swing of our trip was amazing. Oh, and of course, a plethora of wrecks by Mark "Messy Pants" Mesenbrink!! Thanks to all those who said hi and had fun with us while we were in Canada!

The Big Iron Shootout was a success again and Team Thunderstruck won several awards early at the OZONE SHOW CEREMONY under the tent at Zala's. Wow, I never thought switching from a PC to an Apple would be such a big deal. It IS! I am cracking my learning curve quickly though and I just finished one of the women's sections on Thunderstruck 4.5: REALITY. Editing is going well and no question TS5 this August is going to be a bad-ass film!!

I am also switching to a new PC for this web site's updates and BSX bookkeeping chores. My $4000.00 Sony VAIO pretty much blew up on me so it is garbage out the door. While I switch things over from this OLD computer (right now I'm typing on the same computer I edited Thunderstruck 1 on!!) to the new one I need your patience as I will not be able to update this site with the specials that are going on. When I get back up (hopefully next week sometime), I will have special prices on the CALENDARS, TS4, and several other items on our site. Also, watch soon for pre-sales on TS4.5: REALITY and bigger and better and more TS DVD package deals! From this OLD computer, this last transmission to bigskyx.com is both a blessing and a tear-jerker. . . This computer has seen every part of Thunderstruck since day 1. Every picture, every video clip, every logo, every band's song. To this old computer, HURRAH!

We wish everyone in Thunderstruck land out there a very happy New Year and hope that as the snow gets deep your riding season is safe and fun! We have been having a ball with all the fresh powder and sunshine! We've been riding our local haunts a bunch lately as we prepare to hit several new riding areas in the next month or so. Some unfortunate news. . . One of the Thunderstruck sleds was vandalized a while back as it sat on the back of the owner's truck. We are pretty sure we know who did it and believe me, karma will come a knockin'. To all you who think vandalism on other's property is cool, shame on you. You suck.

On a lighter note, I've been riding with the Utah Turbo hounds and Doc Nesbo and have got some amazing photography and video already. Editing on Thunderstruck 4.5 has been delayed due to another computer problem, but it is still on schedule! Believe it or not, I'm trashing all the PCs and going to an APPLE G5 something or other! So I will be learning a whole new editing system while working on TS4.5. I will be editing TS4.5 on the Apple so when you hear me screaming in frustration at night, you'll know why!

We are also courting new bands right now for both TS4.5 and TS5 which is due out in August. If you know of a great local band that has a CD out, have them contact us ASAP!

Watch for our trailers roaming all over as the snow is falling and we start getting into the realm of things. Cannot wait for Expo and the Hillclimbs and thanks again to all those who support us and take the time to read through our site! See you soon!

WATCH JIM PHELAN AND TRENNIS BAER ON THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23RD!

Another crazy month and a half has gone by at Team Thunderstruck. This is BY FAR the busiest Christmas season we've ever had and believe it or not, we have sold out of 2 of our titles in the last week! More on that later!

The Print world was crazy with Thunderstruck articles in the last month so be sure to check out all the snowmobiling magazines out there! A couple of standout articles:

SLEDNECKS MAGAZINE, Volume 2, issue 2, November 2005, page 20 has a 10 page article and interview with 2005 Xtremey Award winner and Thunderstruck rider SHAWN HASTINGS! There are also 6 color pictures, including a full page shot! Shawn talks about his experiences with Thunderstruck and his winning of the award for his awesome segment in Thunderstruck 3. A must have, contact SLEDNECKS for more info.

SLEDHEADS MAGAZINE, Volume 7, issue 6, December 2005, page 48 has a 9 page article about Jim Phelan (that's me) and the inner workings of Team Thunderstruck. Some candid statements and tons of great pictures make this an article you should not miss! You'll learn of my background, how I like to film, and who I like to film! Also in this issue the cover shot is none other than part-time Thunderstruck rider JULIO EIGUREN from Boise, Idaho. The shot was taken on one of our outings and both Julio and Mustang Johnny have several shots throughout this magazine. Check it out!

Our riding season has started and I have about 120 miles on my new APEX. What an awesome sled. No question it is heavy when stuck, but when you're on the throttle it's like a dream come true. I cannot wait for the 100 hp boost it'll be getting soon! We haven't been filming much yet, but we've rode Cooke City, Lincoln and Buck Creek. All these areas need more snow but I thought Cooke City had the best snow.

Our shipping of orders will be 100% caught up by Monday or Tuesday of this week except for a few orders that the products are on backorder. Thunderstruck 1 is out of stock but I did find 50 copies at a distributor which I am buying back and Thunderstruck 3.5 is also out of stock or will be in the next day or two. TS3.5 will NOT be available for order after this weekend so get your orders in right NOW!!!

I will be updating all the rider's new sleds and our music pages soon so check back! TS4.5: REALITY is well on its way to completion so watch for its page to be up soon! Here is the artwork for TS4.5 thanks to Jill at Team Summit Productions!

One other note of interest: We made a great little movie last February called THUNDERSTRUCK 3.5: Redemption. Well, I can tell you now the 3000 copies we made are almost gone. I have about 60 copies left and then there will be no more made, ever. So if you ever want to see this fun-filled Thunderstruck movie, now is the time to order!

Thanks for the overwhelming support on this mid-season release and look for THUNDERSTRUCK 4.5 AND ITS TEASER COMING THIS WINTER!

Wow. September 24th Thunderstruck 4 came to the Big Easy in Spokane Washington where over 500 people packed the house to watch the show and enjoy the festivities! Special thanks to all those who helped put on such a fun show. Allsport Polaris, The Buzzard and Bruce Deming, Mike Hidy, The Big Easy, Rob and The Spokane Winter Knights, and all the Thunderstruck riders who came out for the show.

Oct 1 and 2 in Boise was the Boise Snow Show and of course with this show comes several of the biggest Thunderstruck events of the year. Again, FBomb Rob invited the riders to his house for an awesome BBQ and food spread, wow I ate a lot! Thanks to Lisa and Rob for a great night and thanks to Mitymo Steve for a ride in a 10 second car!

Our premiere at The Boise Big Easy was BY FAR the funnest and biggest party we've ever put on. Again, over 530 people showed up for the movie and afterwards, the band HELLS BELLS came out and led off the night with a scathing rendition of the AC/DC song THUNDERSTRUCK! It was so cool! Almost 900 people rocked the Big Easy all night to the AC/DC cover band and oh what a night it was! Thanks and thanks again to all our Boise friends and sponsors and fans for without all of you Boise would be really boring every year!

Next stops:

Oct 8-9 Denver Snow Show

Oct 22-23 Puyallup (Seattle) Snow Show

Oct 28-29 Salt Lake City Snow Show

Oct 21-23rd Edmonton Snow Show: Dan Davidoff will be running our booth at The Edmonton Snow Show again this year so stop by and see the CRAZY CANADIAN!!

Stop by our booths and say hi!!!

Oh, and our new sleds are coming in day by day. Oh what a year it's going to be!

.: Sept 14, 2005 :.

We're back from a sizzling event in Blaine Minneosta, namely HayDays and the 3 days of parties that go with it. We started Thursday night with a Team Thunderstruck PRIVATE live set at 13th Step's new studio and it was awesome. Doc Nesbo even got about half an hour of amped-up microphone time telling his world-famous giddy-giddy-giddy jokes!! Oh what fun it was! That night ended early and Friday was set-up day. We spent the afternoon at Haydays putting up our booth and meeting others at their booths. The night came rolling around quickly with TURNAGAIN HARDCORE 5 and THUNDERSTRUCK 4 on the screens at Majors Sports Bar in Blaine. What a ball! From Jimmy Blaze to Paul Thacker to Trennis Baer to many more some of the biggest sled-movie stars in the world showed up to dance the night away! Then, Saturday morning came early and our booth at Haydays was ROCKING all day Saturday. Thanks to Trennis, Paul, Disco, Doc Nesbo, Jacquie, Shannon, Jeff (Aiello), and the many others who helped out. Special thanks to Thomas of Tahoe Films (Extreme Velocity) and Dean and the gang from Orion Industries for all their help and support also! Then, Saturday night was the big concert. We ran almost 500 people through the door for 2 bands and tons of fun. The AK boys were rockin on the dance floor and to see little Heath Frisby getting banged around by the big boyz in the mosh pit was a sight to behold! I think Doc Nesbo even gave it a go once or twice! Again, this night ended relatively early and it was back to our Haydays booth early Sunday. Sunday was a slower day but fun none-the-less. By 9:30pm we were all on planes home and by midnight I was cuddled up next to Melisse and Brooklyn at home! Thanks to all for a wonderful weekend and look for BOTH PARTIES at Haydays again next year!

This weekend: Extreme Velocity Premiere in MISSOULA.

Sept 24: SPOKANE PREMIERE of THUNDERSTRUCK 4 at The Big Easy!

Oct 1: BOISE PREMIERE of THUNDERSTRUCK 4 at The Big Easy!

Be there!!

.: Sept 1, 2005 :.

It was a boring Thursday morning when the Extraction coordinates came across my computer. Cell phones starting ringing throughout the inland Northwest. Friends and riders of Thunderstruck were called to action and oh yeah. . . Bring your cameras. Flash ahead to today as Wade looks into the camera. . . "Just another tough day at the office. . ." he exclaims. Just then the desert silence is shattered by the whump-whump-whump of a Blackhawk helicopter. The 2 F-15s that were dogfighting and dropping counter-measures bug out. Wade raises his hands in welcome as the Blackhawk comes in at low level and the extraction team arrives. As the Blackhawk unloads and departs, the roar of far-off jet engines fill the sky. A quick briefing by our insider, and cameras are set with watchful eyes on the enemy targets and insurgents. The roar of jet engines gets louder and a call is made to look east just above the deck. At 380 mph and only 100 feet above us, the mock bombing runs commence with the crack of the A-10 Thunderbolt's engines slapping sound waves off the sleds and riders of Team Thunderstruck. Sortie after sortie of A-10s roll into our position to "take us out". A local farmer looks in awe as an A-10 rocks over just as an Apache takes out a lone insurgent in the field. The sky is filled with the thump of the rotors and the roar of the A-10s as the extraction chopper, a Blackhawk, enters stage left through a tight canyon. A hot extraction leads to an awe-inspiring exclamation point as our truck movements incite the A-10 pilots into several more bombing runs to finally neutralize us. . . Minutes later Julio watches in repose as the A-10s do dipped wing salutes to us while the Apache escorts the Blackhawk to safety. The A-10s strut some fancy moves again and as fast as they came in on us, they are gone. . .

Well, I finally had the time to watch TS4, opening FBI warning to final credit. There is no question it will be the LONGEST film this year. And it includes a little bit of everything. The nasty chute climbs, some amazing powder, huge air, great fireworks (multiple sled stuff), 3 amazing helicopter days, and some great all-around boondocking. Lots of sunny days, lots of rider interaction, some great carnage. A few nasty avalanches, some gorgeous chicks that can ride, and an awesome rider/camera relationship that shows you depth and personality in these guys and gals that you just cannot skip over. The fear of telling your wife you just endo'd a 20 foot cliff and totaled your sled, the indifference of hanging out over 280 foot cliffs, the smack talk between the Utah Turbo Hounds, the humor as riders face off on the hill. All great stuff. I am proud of this film and like I said, it may be too long for some of you (1 hour and 40 minutes plus another 45 minutes of extras) but the majority will have a great night of entertainment.

Thanks to all of you who support Team Thunderstruck.

I'm sitting at my computer doing the final output of THUNDERSTRUCK 4. I must say, it's a LONG movie. I asked on Snowest Forums what length a movie should be and most people responded 90 minutes. We had the footage and it turned out great.

I try to listen to fans. So many fans say they LOVED the laid-back, reality-tv-like, personal style of Redemption and the hardcore action of TSIII. So I combined them, in fact, I combined MANY aspects of what people have said they wanted into TS4.

The deep snow climbs are here for the hard-to-please types. Lots of rider interaction and hopefully you'll get to know them a bit better. Some of the most insane mountain footage ever, and if you don't believe me, click HERE to watch the teaser.

Lots of style thanks to editing help, lots of flavor thanks to our diverse riding crew, gorgeous videography thanks to our great camerapeople.

Our PREMIERE schedule is almost finalized. Here are the known dates:

AUGUST 13th: Myrna Loy Center, Helena ---- SEPTEMBER 9: Mall of America, Minneapolis ---- October 1: The Big Easy, Boise ---- Our OGDEN and SPOKANE dates are TBA. We also may be doing a showing in Puyallup with ALTICITY.

Enjoy the teasers. All pre-orders will ship AUGUST 15th, no exceptions unless a disaster strikes!!

.: July 9, 2005 :.

The FINAL THUNDERSTRUCK 4 TEASER is here! CLICK HERE for the TS4 PAGE!

Just a couple thoughts. This teaser is meant to give you an overall view of what TS4 is about in terms of insane footage and fun riding. Believe me when I say, THUNDERSTRUCK 4 has TONS of personality. You'll get to know riders better, get to know sponsors better, get to know everything about us better. It is a VERY fun movie. I tried to cross TS3 and TS3.5 styles and I think it has really molded itself into a prize-worthy film. The footage is insane. Period. I did this teaser (special thanks to Jeff Aiello for the graphics) in about 10 minutes today. It was very easy to grab great shots because there are many.

The final movie should be almost and HOUR AND A HALF long. That's a far cry from our last 4 films, which were all around 1 hour. I did not leave in ANY stuff I deem boring. Politics, sponsors and friendships dictate some of what goes into TS4, but it is all great stuff. There will also be TONS of extras, making the entire DVD full of over 2 hours of footage. Drop us a line on our FORUMS (CLICK HERE TO JOIN) and let us know what you think. If you are on other sledding forums, let them know we have it up.

And thank you very much for all the love, friendship and support you have shown Melisse, Brooklyn and I in our trying time. Juggling a wife, an ICU baby, a dog, 2 jobs, and fishing season has been an absolute ball.

Prepare for our premiere season and hopefully we'll see you all at one of them. And you heard it here first. Thunderstruck 4.5 production has begun. It will be a very limited release film but will smooth out the carnage and breath-lessness left by TS4. Hopefully, we'll wrap duplication in mid-fall! So watch for it!

It's 2:40 AM and I just finished uploading our new picture gallery! Check it out by clicking here!

.: June 15, 2005 :.

Wow, it sure has been a long time since I've updated everyone! Family issues have kept Melisse and I busy over the last month. But we are happy and proud to say we are new parents of a gorgeous little baby girl named BROOKLYN KAYLEE PHELAN! She was born May 23 and has had quite a hectic life already! Not too mention, I went under the knife for an appendectomy 2 weeks ago!

All that aside, Thunderstruck 4 is a rocking! The new artwork is up here and the FINAL TS4 TEASER will be up soon. We have an awesome special effects artist named Jeff helping us out to give TS4 a different look than all our other films and we also had Thomas Opre shoot some stuff for us which again will give TS4 tons of new flavor!

We are also ordering some AWESOME new hats. The front logo is the 'X' Logo but it is in 3-D!! Click this website for a sample: http://www.lonepinemarketing.com/ These new Thunderstruck Hats will be for sale when TS4 goes on sale soon! They have both our logos on them plus our TMX tagline around the brim. They ROCK!

The WORLD PREMIERE for Thunderstruck 4 is in Helena, Montana on August 13th. In the past, we have had 2 shows but this year we are only having ONE SHOW so PLEASE, get your tickets early!

We are also having Premieres in Minneapolis, Ogden, Boise and Spokane!

I am currently updating all the pictures in the gallery and it will be a HUGE overhaul! We'll have over 200 NEW pictures on our site soon!

Due to some negative untrue press, our Great Footage Contest suffered as people thought bigskyx.com retained ownership of any footage used. This is not true and we only need permission to use it. The deadline is coming up July 8th so please, if you have footage, send it in! We have had some awesome submissions which will be spread out throughout TS4.

In the editing room, I just finished Brad Story's and Shawn Hasting's sections. I'm currently working on a new section for the film as Brandy from Boise got me some footage I needed! Thanks Brandy! Next I'll be working on Trennis and Mustang Johnny's Sections. TS4 will end up being about 1 hour and 15 minutes this year! Plus, with over an hour of extras, the DVDs will be full!

Happy summer and I'm going fishing!

The film has many titles but will be known as THUNDERSTRUCK 3.5 when it is released near early February 2005. Thunderstruck 3.5 will include tons of never seen before footage including some in-depth stories from last year's riding including Mark Mesenbrink's awesome "Redemption" climb and much much more from Tony Sabol, Dan Davidoff, the Utah Turbo Hounds and all the crazy gang at Team Thunderstruck. We will get caught up over the weekend and start all over next Monday!!

Thunderstruck III VHS tapes are on backorder until September 9th.

Click HERE to see the poster. They will be for sale next week at the ONLINE STORE. Also, our new LADIES line of clothing is done and will be at the ONLINE STORE soon! Also, some new MEN'S clothing is finished and will go up. We are working on VERY NICE fleece jackets and vests and pretty soon, Thunderstruck GLOVES! Should be an exciting fall!

11:15pm...I just finished editing "The Fireworks Climb" from Expo weekend. Did it in a totally new way. . . You'll hear ALL THE SOUNDS! Yes, there is background music but you'll hear each rider's sled and all the voices as everyone marvels at the stunt they just pulled. Very cool section!

I just updated the MUSIC page a little bit. This page will include the TSIII bands and a few TSII bands that we will work with in the future again.

Next up? Time to edit some of those nasty chute climbs from Revy the day we had the chopper...

Stay tuned for premiere cities and dates.

.: July 1, 2004 :.

My poor computer. . . It's July 1st, 2:48am. I'm getting ready to go to bed. Thunderstruck III is almost halfway done. I've changed editing techniques this year so it's taking much longer than expected. The footage I have to choose from is insane. Anyone want to see over 6 MINUTES of Mr. Cliff himself, DAN GARDINER dropping everything in the mountains he could find? How about the most insane helicopter footage ever in a sled film? How about Mustang Johnny taking the STING to amazing limits with its direct nitrous injection. . . In fact, I'm editing Mustang's segment now. And amazing 37 year old newcomer Shane Kynaston is going to raise some heart rates! This guy is NUTS! He followed Gardiner off almost every cliff Dan tried this year! And those Utah Turbo Hounds. . . Wait 'til you see the story of the Fireworks climb. . . To awesome to be true. . . But wait, it was true, I was there! I filmed it! Man, these all-nighters are warping me! Anyway, stay tuned for the next post here. . . The film will be finished the next time there is new news here. In the meantime, join our forums and say hi!

Happy Independence Day!

Since the inception of our new FORUMS I've had lots of positive e-mails and comments so hopefully things will go well on that front.

We recently took our final riding trip of the year to Revy over Memorial Day weekend. Melisse and I set out and met Shawn, Mark, Dan, Lyle, Timmy, Heidi, and a few others for some LATE spring riding. What a ball! In fact, Mark crashed a great crash and everyone had a ton of fun watching it.

I'm now in full edit mode on THUNDERSTRUCK III. Just a few more summer things to film and then watch out for a premiere near you!

Also, I have completely updated our PHOTO GALLERY with current photos. Enjoy looking at our 2004 riding year! I still need to put up a few more pics of some riders over the next month or so. So check back!!!

The artwork for THUNDERSTRUCK III is in the process of being finished by our amazing graphics dude. Thunderstruck is preparing for the editing summer also. With some of our guys in REVY this weekend, some of us have decided to take this weekend off before we hit the snow again.

Our last trip to REVY was one of the most amazing sledding trips I've ever been on. Thanks to all those that made it possible, especially Alex from THE GLACIER HOUSE and Jerry from Selkirk Choppers. What a ball! The riders went nuts for the weekend!!! See you all soon!

.: April 20, 2004 :.

"You know how you felt the first time you saw the Grand Canyon? We feel that every time we snowmobile." Someone on why he loves to snowmobile.

You know, I credited this to some other guy and he swears he didn't say it. So let's credit it to MARK MESENBRINK, I KNOW he said it!!

We just came off an awesome climbing trip to Castlegar, BC with Extreme Team rider Dan Davidoff as our guide. Our entire Washington Team showed up, meeting Trennis and I just over the border for an amazing day in the Selkirks. Shawn Hastings put away the most amazing climb of the day and perhaps of the year and guess what, he didn't do it for the cameras. . . In fact, he didn't even tell me he was going to do it! Amazing stuff, though! This day also saw a white out snow storm hit us in the afternoon, stranding us in the neverland bottom with no way out. Finally, as the fog cleared just enough to know whether we were pointed uphill, Davidoff led a charge over some steep chutes to get everyone out! What a fun day. Josh cold-seized his motor, let it tumble down the mountain, then he fired it up and finished off the day!

Did I mention Dan Davidoff is one CRAZY CANADIAN? Day 2 found us in another of Davidoff's haunts, this time riding off a Lake west of Castlegar. Shawn climbed the tightest chute of the day but just at the top went vertical and almost came over backwards. Don Lenz tried next, only to get sucked into the steep rock wall lining the chute. Then the Crazy Canadian took the Yamaha up and over to top it out just as the sun started to set!

Day 3 found us all tired and a bit melancholy. A perfectly sunny day, it was the first time I'd ever seen sleds climb hills that were impossible to come back down. After hours on top of the world, they finally found a chute down the other side of the mountain that brought them back to reality. What a fun trip!

The riding season is quickly winding down as the warm weather is stealing snow by the foot every day. The editing room is heating up and soon the premiere of THUNDERSTRUCK III will be coming to a theater near you! Watch for cities and times and dates! It won't be long!

.: April 4, 2004 :.

Wow, one day of fresh snow and sun can really change the hearts and minds of some riders! We had an amazing day of filming yesterday, with just about everyone present going nuts for the Thunderstruck cameras! Shane Hedden came along on his open mod REV and rode like he was preparing for the X-Games or something!

Mustang Johnny (The Burf!), Trennis, Dan, Wendall, and Doc Nesbo on the turbo REV tore stuff up and made for hours of awesome climbs, funny wrecks and huge air! What a ball! Enjoy the pics! Next stop? Not sure, there's no snow left anywhere!!!!

.: March 30, 2004 :.

12 Days of travelling the west filming and enjoying the company of freinds, riders, and other film crews have come to an end. What a trip! It started with rides in Island Park and Lion's Head with some of the best in the industry. Perfect sunshine days with stable snow pack put us into the steep chutes on Day 1! Doug, Wes, Travis and Turbo REV founder BRAD STORY had a ball tearing up every possible chute around West! The BURF (Mustang Johnny), Wade from FLY, Gerald, Tony, Trennis, Dan Richter and many other loaded down my cameras with awesome stuff. Watching Wes bust through a monster cornice at 40 mph only to do a flying barrel roll over the top was awesome. And Brad's "switching chutes" climb is one for the record books (he starts up one chute, sees an opening and sidehills over to the next chute, then continues his climb!). Then came the finale. . . Doug, Travis and Brad decided to pull a 1-2-3 punch up the chutes on Jefferson. Not one right after the other, but all 3 at the same time!! It was awesome except for one small detail. Watch TSIII for the rest of the story! But alas. . . Friday night rolls around and we're sitting in the lobby of the Stagecoach. Doug wants a re-run at the 1-2-3 punch. We all look at each other, smile and say what the heck! But WES wants in on this run! How about a 1-2-3-4 PUNCH?!?!? So Saturday finds us in heaven again with the sun shining and the turbos screaming. I watched with the cameras OFF as more than 12 riders conquered Mt. Jefferson that day. Then came the punch. . . Travis, Wes, Doug and Brad. . . The coolest thing I've ever seen happened next. . .

And did I forget to tell you about Friday??? The Team Thunderstruck cameras met 3 rockin' women for the first section in TSIII dedicated to the love of snowmobiling LADY-STYLE! Cornice drops, big air, chute climbing and a couple great crashes rounded out an awesome day with the ladies of Team TS! And the attempt to conquer Jefferson on a STOCK 600cc Polaris? Wait and see the awesome show!

Sunday saw EXPO end and the travelling begin. We woke up Monday to sunny skies in ELKO, NV! Tim and Amanda from Thin-Air Powersports showed us through their beautiful mountains. Richter (FLEECE), Brad Story, Tony, Gerald, Jim Baird, Dan Gardiner and I followed Tim and Amanda around to some amazing country! But alas, Tony had a small accident. After having a corneal abrasion and vision problems all morning, an unseen windlip threw him into a pile of very sharp rocks, breaking his elbow and his heel. Tony, always an amazing rider, rode HIMSELF 12 miles back to the truck, climbing huge bowls along the trail out. Surgery that night on the arm and then transport back home to Mommy left Tony in great spirits to heal this spring. He will be very much missed as we travel this spring and you need to know, Tony, that we are thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery!

We spent part of the week riding No-Tellum-Creek and had awesome shows as Fleece and The Burf rocked the world of chute-climbing. Wade from FLY showed off his finalized mod and Kirk from HMK even broke out the SNOWHAWK for Trennis and Gerald to play on! What a ball!

Next came the Jackson Hole Hillclimbs. Great food and friends. . . Great to see everyone from SnoWest and from all over, especially our fans and sponsors! We're already looking forward to next year!

Special thanks to all our awesome riders and their families. . . Without you, I am just a wannabe photographer. And thanks to the other cameramen working hard to make TSIII #1 next year!

Please go to and vote for THUNDERSTRUCK II for best snowmobile film!

Team Thunderstruck spent an amazing weekend in the mountains of Idaho this weekend with David and Richard from National Goegraphic Television. They had contacted us several months ago after seeing our footage on our website about doing an "Ultimate Explorer" episode about extreme sports. After talking to many people out west about winter sports, the program shifted toward avalanche stories, rescues, and why people want to get back into the backcountry after a terrifying event or even after a tragic event like an avalanche. We filmed with them, interviewed with them, and even did a few stunts with them! Mark Mesenbrink even jumped a cement truck for them! What a ball it was. The final program will be airing on National Geographic TV on April 18th and on MSNBC soon thereafter. Watch for it!

The snow in Island Park is better than I have seen it in years. All weekend long our sleds worked like crazy to get where we normally rocket at 50 mph! Doug Anderson got REALLY crazy and Don Lentz pulled one of the sickest lines ever filmed. . . Every person on the mountain that day was in awe! Watch for it in TSIII! Also, the Cutler 1150s and Gerald's 1200 PSI all ran very well. Don was running his TWIN TURBO D&D 1010 and Doug, Wes, and Travis had their turbos. Dan Bush's 1150 Union Bay went belly up on it's second day so he even got his turbo out for Monday's ride. Anyway, it was awesome snow and sunshine and those 2 things mixed make up for great footage! Thanks to the Utah and Washington Teams for coming up and for Gerald and Shelly and of course Team Physician Doc Nesbo and Avy expert Tony for soming in the weekend. And again, special thanks to National Geographic TV.

Well, after a long Fall touring around the U.S in support of THUNDERSTRUCK II, we have finally returned home, built our new sleds, and hit the snow! Here are some highlights of this Fall:

After HayDays, we travelled throughout Montana promoting the film and we also hit big shows in most major Western cities, including Denver, Salt Lake, Spokane, Seattle (Puyallup), Minneapolis and a few others. Special thanks to all those who help make them happen, especially SnoWest Magazine and the various sledding associations.

We started building sleds in early November and after ordering 7 new CPC 1150s, Team Thunderstruck had a LOT of building to do!

The 1150s hit the snow in late November along with Trennis' refreshed 1220 D&D and a few other mod sleds. In December we travelled to Utah to find snow and play in the mountains with Mr. Dan Gardiner. After that, we quickly rounded up the Team to head for Revy, with tons of fun had by all up there. Many of our riders went up for the ride and again, although it is a long drive, it is SO WORTH IT! Check out some pics from our Revy trip on SnoWest forums HERE.

Also, our graphics contests are going to wrap soon so if you have an entry, please get it to me soon! We'll be riding Priest Lake next and then Island Park and we'll be enjoying the holidays with family and friends.

See you soon! JIM

.: CONTEST #2  :.

YOU WANT PROOF?

Josh challenged the world, Tony scared us all with it, Towline put it to music. . . In case you haven't heard or seen Thunderstruck II yet, there is a song in the film called "Evidence" by Utah band TOWLINE. You Want Proof? is the screaming intro that really made Tony's hair stand on end and Josh challenge the Sledding Community into finding the steepest, tightest chutes in the world to climb! But as usual, noone in Team Thunderstruck has ANY graphical experience whatsoever! So we must rely on our awesome friends out there for help. So here it is:

Team Thunderstruck's 2003-2004 slogan is "YOU WANT PROOF?"

We need a LOGO for the YOU WANT PROOF? slogan!

The RULES:

1. All entries become property of www.bigskyx.com, without pride or prejudice.

2. All graphic's artists agree that when entered, their graphic may be shown publically in any number of ways with respect to www.bigskyx.com and Team Thunderstruck.

3. The winner, to be judged as such by Team Thunderstruck Riders, will receive $100.00 cash and a day in the sun and snow following us around as we film for TSIII.

4. All graphics must be clean enough to make large trailer stickers/graphics out of. We don't want any 29 color custom sled pictures, we want graphics and easy sticker stuff!

5. All entries must be e-mailed as a JPEG with YOU WANT PROOF? GRAPHIC in the subject line to bigskyx@aol.com

Best of luck. Winner will be announced in early December or sooner if some cool stuff comes in!

What "YOU WANT PROOF?" means to me? All the BS people talk in this industry. All the posers. All the wannabes. All the vindictive little schmos that think they are the next best thing. There are so many computer-jockey sledders that make talk seem like it's the only thing that matters, whether on the mountain or not. YOU WANT PROOF? is not only our new slogan, but our dedication that we are not that way. Team Thunderstruck believes whole-heartedly in our friendships with all our riders, our lives outside of sledding, our filming careers, our families, our sponsors, the places we ride, and our sleds and abilities. If you want proof of any of this, follow us around this winter. We have the evidence. Not trying to be cocky, not saying we have something to prove. It's just a slogan. Take it as you will and PLEASE help us out with a logo!

.: CONTEST :.

Big Sky X-treme Snowmobiling Productions is beginning a contest for the BEST NEW TEAM THUNDERSTRUCK Graphic. The winning graphic (and maybe some of the losers) will be made into stickers for promotional use by our riders.

The RULES:

1. All entries become property of www.bigskyx.com, without pride or prejudice.

2. All graphic's artists agree that when entered, their graphic may be shown publically in any number of ways with respect to www.bigskyx.com and Team Thunderstruck.

3. The winner, to be judged as such by Team Thunderstruck Riders, will receive $50.00 cash, a Team TS hat, a Team TS video of their choice, and a day in the sun and snow following us around as we film for TSIII.

4. All graphics must be clean enough to make stickers out of. We don't want any 29 color custom sled pictures, we want graphics and easy sticker stuff!

5. All entries must be e-mailed as a JPEG with NEW TS GRAPHIC in the subject line to bigskyx@aol.com

Here is a sample graphic from Dustin at dbfoto.com:

Any other questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail!!

Simple typewritten fonts that say Team Thunderstruck will NOT be included unless it is a custom font!! Shadows and the such are great!

Winner will be announced in November! Stay Tuned!

.: August 21, 2003 :.

Wow. That says alot for Team Thunderstruck these days. Since I last updated the news updates much has changed! Let's run down a few things:

First, I finished editing the new film, Thunderstruck II. With an amazing new soundtrack, better editing, better filming, better riders, and awesome footage, this film is an honor for me to produce. And with the amazing pre-order response and awesome internet reviews the film has received I couldn't be happier! Thanks to all you who support our riders and our film and we hope you meet us at one of the many snow shows we will be attending this winter.

Second, I had an enclosed trailer FULL of films, both DVD and VHS, arrive in my driveway on Saturday, August 16th. Team Thunderstruck hillclimber's Doug Anderson and Wes Little and Doug's lovely wife Tracy pulled the enclosed from Utah just in time for our huge premiere kick-off event in Helena. We had a huge BBQ before the Premiere at my house where all the riders showed up and reminisced and just had a blast! Then, off to the premiere where we packed the Myrna Loy Theater in Helena with 400 excited fans. With almost 1500 horsepower parked on stage, Wade Durbin from FLY RACING and I threw prizes and freebies out to the crowd. The movie went on at 7:15pm and it was an absolute riot! Thanks to all who came and joined us in the celebration.

Next came FILLING orders! All day Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we invoiced, billed, packed and shipped thousands of films to make sure those who ordered had them before this weekend! What a fun job!

Finally, about the DVD. There are special sections on the DVD that can only be accessed with a little bit of work. Also, Fabcraft, Cutler's, Van Amburg, Western Power Sports, and Highmark Recreation all have special films dedicated to them under the sponsor section. Under the "Extras" section the Avalanche link does not work but if you go to DISPLAY on your remote, hit Title 10, you'll enter into the audio-only Avalanche Story. Also, witness the new Acid Lake music videos and a few movie trailers.

We are looking forward to a fun fall with more premieres, public showings, snow shows and the like. Next is a whirlwind trip to Haydays in Minnesota so look for the Team Thunderstruck riders to answer any questions you might have! See you there!

.: June 20, 2003 :.

What an absolutely CRAZY spring! I'll talk about the riding and the avalanche later! For now, just in time for 13th Step's "Paint Your Face" party in Anoka, Minnesota, Big Sky X-treme Productions presents the world premiere of the new music video for their song, ACID LAKE. This video combines elements from the band's weekend of filming in Bozeman and Island Park with new extreme video from Team Thunderstruck and other riders. You'll see the likes of Dan Gardiner, Alex T, Shawn Hastings, Josh Marshall, Kyle Armbrust, Shane Hedden, Dan Pate and many more. These are all NEW SLEDDING CLIPS dedicated to the August release of THUNDERSTRUCK II. I just got off the phone with Matt from 13th Step (he got his copies today, party is tomorrow!) and he was ecstatic at the evolution and outcome of this video. Enjoy it while it lasts! A couple notes, better to download the larger version, much better quality. Windows Media editions coming soon. I haven't edited the adult language out of the video yet, please do NOT watch around children or if offended by adult language. The "G-rated" version should be up soon. Please leave feedback on what you think of my first ever music video production. E-mail me at jim@bigskyx.com!

Wow, how awesome has the snow and filming been since EXPO?? Team Thunderstruck has been VERY busy the last couple weeks travelling all over the west and we just keep getting busier and busier! The great snow and low avy danger has put us back on the steep slopes, tearing up the tight chutes of the Rockies! We filmed a couple days with Josh Marshall and Shawn Hastings from the EXTREME TEAM and just had a ball! I now know why their last movie was called Adrenaline Rush! We also tore up the Centennials with the Utah Turbo Hounds again and Tony hit an EPIC day in the sun with untracked snow down there!

We also hit Bozeman, Montana for several days of production work on a new type of video. Hint: Check out 13th Step's website! What a ball! We dragged these guys from their home in Minneapolis out to lil' ol' Montana for some of the funnest and most incredible filming I've ever done. Look for the finished production on THUNDERSTRUCK II. It will be AWESOME!

From here we keep our trips fairly quiet as we know good snow (especially untracked snow) is getting harder and harder to find. But if you see us out on the road stop and say hi!

I'll be updating the picture gallery this week and the THUNDERSTRUCK II teaser will be up soon! Keep checking back!

.: March 25, 2003 :.

Well, I guess snow conditions have been really strange this year. This, and the horrible avalanche conditions, have made filming THUNDERSTRUCK II quite a remarkable undertaking. Normally we ride and climb some pretty crazy stuff but after a few avalanche brushes we have really become timid in the steep and deep. Spring snow has finally arrived and our big mods are hitting the stable bowls and hills but we want to remind everyone that avalanches can and will happen during the spring also. We would also like to say we miss you JASON.

We have been travelling a bunch and meeting some awesome new people. We have also been filming some great new riders and some veterans who are as crazy as the day is long! We spent a week in SW Wyoming and Utah and also travelled to Island Park several times. West Expo has also come and gone with tons of fun and some amazing riding and filming.

Congratulations are in order to Team Thunderstruck's WES LITTLE who was the first rider EVER to climb The Threadmaker on Mt. Jefferson's north face. It is a CRAZY line and a do-or-die chute. Wes pulled several other amazing climbs that day and lo and behold this will all be seen in THUNDERSTRUCK II.

We're going to be filming around home until next weekend when we will travel south to play at The FAIRVIEW SHOOTOUT in Fairview, Utah. This non-sanctioned race brings out the biggest and baddest sleds in the world and is always a blast to watch and race in!

After that we will be shooting closer to home for the rest of the year as snow conditions here are awesome and ready for some rockin' mods to tear up the mountains.

The THUNDERSTRUCK II teaser will be up on this website here in the next couple weeks so WATCH for it!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Team Thunderstruck has been abuzz with dreams of finishing our mod sleds before the snow gets too deep! But we haven't had the need to get too excited as snow levels all around the West (except California) are the worst in years! But we are getting ready for the snow and 4 of our new mods will be unveiled this weekend at a SPONSOR/RIDER meeting, the location of which is CONFIDENTIAL!! If you do see our trailers pulling into town, say hi!

On other fronts: There was a large avalanche in the main bowl in Copper Creek this Saturday (Jan 4) where we normally ride. It piled almost 30 feet high at the bottom and over 1000 feet of mountain slid. YUK! With the snow pack so unstable this year please be prepared while in the backcountry. Please get yourself an AVALANCHE BEACON, probes, shovels, saws and a small, portable emergency kit. The life you save may be your best friend or even a family member!

Next stop: Confidential, then Utah, then Boise!

As we continue to put the finishing touches on our sleds and hope for deep snow in the mountains, the Team wants to thank all of our fans for the amazing support. It's nice to go to the shows and meet you all. Many of you have asked about GUEST RIDES with Team Thunderstruck. We do have guest rides at certain times during the year. We DO NOT take large groups, we keep the groups small. We also ride familiar haunts repeatedly throughout the year and welcome you to show up in those places and ride with us for the day. You may call in advance or send us an e-mail from our contact page. But please do NOT ask to be in our video. You will be along as a spectator only, not to be a part of our video. Thanks for understanding.

Next stop: Island Park, early December!!
